Govt. Announces Initiative for Disabled People: South Korea
The Korean government has come up with a plan to provide more economic, education and welfare programs for disabled people.
The number of physically disabled people in Korea increased almost fivefold over the past 10 years to over 2 million, leading to a need for updated policies.
At a government meeting on the new initiative Wednesday, Prime Minister Han Seung–soo emphasized the importance of a well–established welfare system for disabled people.
One of the major items under the new initiative is free education for disabled children under three years of age.
