Centre to confer 59 national awards: India
CHANDIGARH: Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has decided
to confer 59 national awards for the year 2008 for the welfare of
disabled persons.
Stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Government said that
these awards would be conferred on the occasion of International
Disabled Day on December 3,2008.
Applications for these awards have been invited by the Union Ministery
of Social Justice and Empowerment by August 14,2008. He said that these
awards would be conferred in different categories.
A maximum of 20 awards would be conferred upon disabled employees or
disabled self employed persons followed by 11 awards for those
individuals and institutions engaged in rendering outstanding service to
disabled people.
Ten awards would be for outstanding employers and placement officers or
agencies for disabled people.
He said that there would be five role model awards, three for offering
excellent technological change for economical technology for the
handicapped and three awards for doing excellent job in providing
barrier free environment for disabled persons. There would be one award
for the district which would provide outstanding services for
rehabilitation disabled people. There would be an award for local
committee of a National Trust, one award for outstanding State
channelising agency of National Disabled Finance and Development
Corporation. There would also be two awards each for outstanding active
adult disabled persons and outstanding active disabled child.
