Cricket for disabled people: Pakistan
4 July: Another Pathan from Pakistan is chasing his dream. Regardless of all
limitations, Salman Pathan on cructches swears by the 'Gentleman's Game'.
Watchman by the night, right–arm pacer for the day, 26–year–old polio
struck Salman Pathan swears by the 'Gentleman's Game'. A boy nicknamed
Kashif 'Tendulkar' Hussain, even though on crutches, pads up and hits the ball with ease. As Hussain states, "Cricket
has been my passion right since childhood days."
The 'Pakistan Disabled Cricketer's Association' is a platform for these
physically disabled players to virtually live their dreams. As Salim
Karinm, the captain and the founder of the association avers, "With
eight teams across Pakistan, the association's gradually trying to give
these gifted players, an opportunity to even go international! – their
ultimate dream destination."
The will amongst these players to keep on the struggle is unmistakable.
The drive to enjoy the game, regardless of their limitations can make
one go numb in awe.
