AIZAWL, INDIA, Nov 5, 2012: Mizoram Government has appointed B.Sairengpuii as the new Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. Earlier, she got pension as Social Welfare Secretary under Mizoram Government on October 31, 2012. Her new appointment order was issued on the day of her pension itself, and she reportedly took up her new job on Saturday.While holding the post of Social Welfare Secretary, she had taken charge of the Commissioner for a number of years, as was done too by others before her.The post of the Commissioner has been made as the Central Government, feeling concern for the persons of disabilities, directed the state government to have separate commissioner. As such, B. Sairengpuii is reemployed as the new Commissioner. In the mean time, Differently Abled Society (DAS) recently said that Sairengpuii was not fit for her post. It said that Sairengpuii had no specialized knowledge in the field. However, reports has it that the DAS is not included among the 8 recognised by Social Welfare Department.
