In Pakistan, LABARD for rehabilitation of disabledpersons thru strategy | Print |

LAHORE: Dec 28: The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD), here on Tuesday said that all segments of the society would be involved in the rehabilitation of disabled people through a strategy.


Addressing the governing body meeting, the LABARD President MNA Pervez Malik said, in the developed world, disabled persons enjoy a special status but in Pakistan situation is not encouraging.

He said that according to law two per cent government and one per cent private jobs are reserved for special persons,but it is a matter of concern that law is not being implemented.

He demanded the government that jobs should be provided to disabled persons as per quota prescribed for them.

He said that all the businessmen should at least accommodate one specail person in his factory or office to mitigate the miseries of the ailing humanity.

LABARD Senior Vice President Mian Nusrat-ud-Din said that it is social responsibility of every individual to play his role for the rehabilitation of disabled persons. LABARD Joint Secretary Saeed Khan presented a detailed brief of the LABARD services during the period from July 01, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
