Party and State pay great care to Vietnamese with Disabilities: Vice President | Print |

Nhan Dan, April 13: The Party and State always pay great care to disabled people and orphans, said Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at the meeting to honour outstanding disabled people, orphans and patrons in Hanoi yesterday.


Addressing the meeting, the Vice President appreciated efforts made by disabled and orphans during the past years and thanked kind-hearted patrons who have supported the disabled to integrate into the community.

Vice President Doan stressed that the Party and State always care about people with disabilities and orphans by issuing social policies to help them have a better life.

According to Nguyen Dinh Lieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Association in Support of Disabled People and Orphans, the country’s considerable socio-economic developments during the past three years help to improve both material and spiritual life of the disabled and orphans.

The Party, State, social organisations and people from all walks of life have raised high sense of responsibility by involving in activities to support such unfortunate people, the Association Chairman added.

So far, many individuals and organisations at home and abroad have donated money and necessities in kind worth around VND 237 billion to support the disabled and orphans.

Additionally, more than 17,000 blind people have been provided with cataract surgeries and nearly 3,000 disabled people have been offered orthopedic surgeries. About 23,000 wheelchairs and 6,000 bicycles have been given to the disabled and orphans in poor localities. Also, vocational training have been provided to 5,000 people and 12,000 scholarships have been presented to orphans.
